PHP Development Continues

13th October, 2008 | FSW

My skill in PHP continues to grow rapidly with only my ability to generate the required algorithm the only limitation.

Completing WordPress Theme

12th June, 2008 | FSW

The two final acts before completion of this theme is a rewrite of the footer and the entire CSS and PHP files.

Colour Palette

17th May, 2008 | FSW

A design idea for the website is a page dedicated the colour palette used for the various sites I have been involved with. Perhaps link it with the Adobe Kuler application.

Website Inspiration and WordPress Themes

17th May, 2008 | FSW

The rapid changing in theme development continues. Technically, these changes aren’t new revisions but just further progressing in getting the job done. The transformation from the Bob theme continues. It wont be long before I have my own set-up.

In the meantime, I have been scouring the internet looking at colour schemes and layouts of websites. I have come across the likes of:

The first has the Mandigo Theme as used by various Wordpress based blogs. The second is more of an inspiration of colour palette choice.

WordPress Plugins

27th April, 2008 | FSW

Two great plugins available for WordPress are the WordPress Automatic Upgrade and the Google XML Sitemaps plugin. The former removes the hassle of upgrading WordPress and the latter creates a search engine compliant sitemap and submits it automatically.

Website Ambitions

26th April, 2008 | FSW

With the overall look and feel more defined, work can commence on new features. The key development is a dashboard with several tools.

The first is a car fuel economy tool, to record the mpg for each refuel. The work will require basic database querying and the integration of off-the-shelf graphing server-side scripts. Therefore, such scripts have to be identified.

Once the initial tool has been set-up, the other tools to add:

  • RSS feed reader.
  • Personal Spend Tool.
  • Suitable security.
  • Mobile version of dashboard for over-the-air updates.

That’s it for now.

Further Tweaking

26th April, 2008 | FSW

Small changes made to the main page, and also the blog template. The sidebar in Wordpress has now been activated. Need to polish CSS for right menu.

Tweaking…

18th April, 2008 | FSW

Although the main elements of the site are in position there are some major items that require attention, in no particular order:

  • Finish blog template, noting new URL.
  • Tweak colour scheme for blog.
  • Tweak colour scheme for main site, and most importantly emphasise the menu. Might require small redesign to bring forward.
  • Determine why google does not find ashraf-miah.co.uk.
  • Start blogging about aviation.
  • Create google compatible sitemap.

I have started to treat this blog as a means of tracking my updates.

fsw-one Theme Development

16th March, 2008 | FSW

I finally found the time to create a theme for the blog. It is based on the main site design (http://www.ashraf-miah.co.uk). The theme name (appropriately I feel) is called fsw-one. Still needs fine tuning.

Theme Ideas

5th January, 2008 | FSW

The current theme (green bob) is closely suited to what I hope my final theme will be. In that the colour scheme is close to but not quite blue enough for my liking.

It does however have the right shades of grey and of course black.
